Kiyou Shimizu, Olympic Silver Medalist Kiyou Shimizu is one of Japan's most celebrated karate athletes, known for her exceptional skill and dedication to the art of kata. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, she earned the silver medal in women's kata, delivering a powerful and graceful performance at Nippon Budokan as karate made its Olympic debut. She is a two-time World Champion (2014, 2016) and a three-time Asian Games gold medalist (2014, 2018, 2022). In Japan, she won the All-Japan Karate Championships seven years in a row, becoming the youngest-ever national kata champion at age 19. Respected worldwide for her precision and spirit, Shimizu continues to inspire karate fans and young athletes everywhere.
